The celebrated 1975 book Skyline by Franco Fontana, one of the undisputed masters of color photography, has just been reissued.

In 1978, Franco Fontana’s Skyline sent a shockwave through the world of photography. We had never seen landscapes like that, abstract and concrete, a set of perfectly horizontal lines aflame with sensual colors. With the reissue of Skyline nearly 35 years after its release, now placed into the context of the history of photography and the artist’s personal journey, we are able to see its relevance, originality and modernity.
After starting out in photography in 1960 at the age of 20, it took Franco Fontana more than 15 years to become a master of his art. Throughout fifty years of work on  landscapes, nudes and Polaroids, Fontana has never lost the amused curiosity of his beginnings.
Fontana used  the true face of nature and the earth, as a distorting mirror through which he produced metaphorical self-portraits.
The Galerie Baudoin in Paris recently exhibited his photographs.
