Can one deeply, fully, appreciate a moment without also respecting its imminent loss? This is the poignant and magnificent question that drives Josh Levine to photograph old places changing fast. Every new stage produces exquisite layers and shapes and shadows. American Josh Levine lived as a journalist in modern Hanoi, where he produced the original photographs that have resulted in the series “Circa Vietnam.” The images celebrate the beauty of time’s passing, and are manipulated via digital technique and printed on fine art paper. Today Josh, who also shoots commercially, finds layers of history and texture from his mountaintop perch outside New York City. He was born in Brooklyn in the 60s,attended high school in New Jersey and college in Pennsylvania and has lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn, along with Santa Fe and the Pacific Northwest.
