Created in 2009 by Jean François Fortchantre, the Prix International Planète Albert Kahn honors a photographer whose work fosters peace and dialogue among peoples, in the spirit of the idealist and philanthropist Albert Kahn. Each year the prize is given to a well known photographer for his or her humanistic qualities and whose work has marked its time.

After Raymond Depardon in 2009, Marc Riboud in 2010, Stanley Green in 2011 and Marie Laure de Decker in 2012, the 2013 prize was awarded to Pascal Maitre

The jury was comprised of Daphné Angles (journalist for the New York Times), Anne Cartier-Bresson (curator); Sophie Bernard (journalist), Jean François Camp (President of Central-Dupon), Gilles Baud-Berthier (historian and curator) Bernard Perrine (photographer and curator at l’institut de France) and Jean François Forctchantre (President of Planète Albert Khan).
