► Touching Stranger Project by Richard Renaldi
http://fotografiamagazine.com/touching-strangers-richard-renaldi/
Since 2007,  American photographer Richard Renaldi has roamed across the United States asking strangers to pose together for a portrait, and to physically interact with each other in some way. On this why-did-nobody-think-about-this-before idea is based Renaldi’s series Touching Strangers, a body of work that deals with universal themes like personal relationships, diversity, racism, virtualization of life and more, all in one place; and explores them through gestures as simple as a hug or the touch of a hand. Just like the best works in every art. Touching Strangers is also available as a book from Aperture.

► Instagram collector: David Balicki, Web curator
A sunset on a tropical island shot by fashion photographer Josh Olins, the actress Rose McGowan doing pole dance on the London tube, or the singer-guitarist of indie-rock gorup Bad Girlfriend in the lotus positions: these are the kinds of photos collected on InstagramCollector. To organize the square-format pics published every day on Instagram David Balicki, a graduate of the École d’Arles, created the page in December 2013 and turned into a web curator, preserver of the ultra-temporary. Every day he publishes, “a careful selection of fashion photos, music and the arts, chosen from the best of Instagram.

► PORTFOLIO : Tamara Dean, The Edge
Work from the series The Edge, by Tamara Dean are being exhibited in a Sydney Gallery and were published in April on the Australian online magazine Anne Summers Reports. The up-and-coming young Australian photographer, spoke about her series: “The Edge describes a few things for me: the dramatic emotional landscape of teenage years when self-discovery begins and independence is forged; being on the cusp of moving from childhood to adulthood physically, along with the emotional uncertainty and vulnerability which imbues those teenage years. For me, this boy standing alone in the column of water symbolizes that state of transformation and illumination.” Her photographs are composed like Renaissance paintings. Adolescence is like rebirth with all the changes. Photo professionals talk about her work in this video.

LightBoxFF: The Photojournalist Andrew Quilty learns to love Instagram
Every week Time’s photo blog LightBox features the work of a photographer using Instagram in original and engaging ways. This LightBox interviewed the photographer Andrew Quilty (@andrewquilty), who is currently in Afghanistan and who has come to see Instagram as a valuable creative outlet and a professional tool, despite his initial reluctance. “There’s so much narcissism on social media and I’d like to think that my choice – for the most part — to depict the lives of others rather than my own is what attracts people to my feed.”. ► Listen to these great photographers from National Geographic discuss the power and beauty of photography.
Each photographer talks about his or her theories, truths and what they’ve learned through years of working: photography can “change the way you see,” “change the course of your life,” it’s an “addiction” as well as a “universal language,” that “everyone must do.” If you have 5 minutes, watch this incredible video in tribute to the magazine’s 125th anniversary.
