Xavier Roy by Bernard Plossu

Preview

The photographer Xavier Roy is tall and blond, which makes it hard for him to travel unnoticed in certain parts of the world. But he’s able to blend in with his surroundings because the way he takes pictures is quick and alert, and he pretends like he was just going for a stroll. But he’s more than just a stroller: he captures moments from life that would seem to have little importance, then gives them their own souls. He is in touch with the present, reality and lived moments wherever he goes. Xavier Roy is one of those vital photographers. Photography is his passion. He approaches it with passion, tenderness and rigor, like a second life where the eye and the intelligence allow him to live intensely by paying close attention to what happens around him. Roy travels, far and often, from Brazil to Egypt, countries which he understands by taking a passionate look at them. Photography is so sincere! It’s not just the art of wonder. It’s also the art of living on the same level as the life around us, the art of getting involved.
