Hermès éditeur : Julio Le Parc

Preview

For the past few years, Hermès has been offering a unique sensory experience with a special series of its iconic silk squares designed by some of the great artists of our time, from Josef Albers to Daniel Buren. More recently, Hiroshi Sugimoto, with his “shadow colors,” brought us the Tokyo dawns he captured every morning with his Polaroid camera. The series was exhibited at the 2013 Rencontres d’Arles.

For the 4th edition, Julio Le Parc, a major artist whose work has been featured recently at the Palais de Tokyo and the Grand palais, has taken the French manufacturer’s silk square and composed an ode to color with “Variations autour de La Longue Marche.”

The project is the realization of a dream: to forge links and create bridges between the world of manufacturing and the world of art, and to conceive of art as something that exists off the walls of galleries and museums—why not something you can wear? Every year, the artist’s contributions challenge the Hermès team to overcome obstacles that seem at first insurmountable, pushing the limits of its legendary craftsmen and women.

Julio Le Parc’s series were exhibited in Basel at the Museum der Kulturen.

All the series can be viewed on the official site of Hermes Editeur.
