Hyères 2013 –Grace Kim

Preview

My work contemplates memory, time and consciousness, and themes of existence—what it means to be human and how we construct our personal truths and realities. Working with digital photography and video, I contextualize still and time-based elements into symbolic conditions that parallel an everyday context. They are concerned with poetic spaces where the metaphysical and spiritual manifest in dialogue with the real. Time and space are considered as quantum spaces that mirror the psyche and soul. Collage sensibilities echo the fragmented intuition of memory and subjectivity themselves, reflecting my perspective on life as a circle of karmic contradiction.
