Willy Rizzo: –Il était une fois Deauville

Preview

In August 1949, Willy Rizzo, armed with a 6×6, photographed Deauville in color, with the keen eye and ardor of a 21-year old. His photographs, taken five years after the Normandy landings, were the first published photos of postwar Deauville. Rizzo was at the time one of the most talented photographers of the nascent Paris Match, and soon became a legend in the world of photojournalism.

While preparing this exhibition of 35 prints, which will be on display all summer, Willy Rizzo died in Paris on February 25. This show serves also as a tribute from the city of Deauville to the photographer, 64 years after it adopted him. He became one of its most loyal residents.
