Seph Lawless

Preview

In these past few weeks we’ve seen his series Black Friday all across the web. Seph Lawless traveled across the United States photographing abandoned shopping centers, highlighting the fate of our consumer society and the disappearance of a local economy. Today, the photographer wished to share with us a selection of his work taken from series like Autopsy of America and Black Friday while commenting on each of the photographs. In the same vein as Black Friday, the series Autopsy of America captures the fate of Americans and the devastating effects of globalization on its cities.

Seph Lawless is a pseudonymous American-based artist, political activist/artivist who has deliberately chosen to keep his identity concealed. In recent years, he has maximized social media platforms to encourage and promote creativity to fight and struggle against injustice and oppression. Seph Lawless writes ‘ The Artivist (Artist + Activist)  uses their creativity to fight and struggle against injustice and oppression by any medium necessary …a pen, a lens, a brush, a voice …even your body.’
