Preview

Until October 26th, Breda puts photography in the spotlight. For the sixth edition of the international festival BredaPhoto the theme Songs from the Heart was chosen, and with it New Romanticism. With Photographer Hal, this theme results in couples wrapped in cellophane. Alec Soth preferred to look at the honeymoons and divorce parties held at Niagara Falls. Karin Borghouts pays tribute in ‘The House’ to her ancestral home, which was burned to the ground. Todd Hido presents a series of cryptic images, some of them with almost cinematic qualities. An-Sofie Kesteleyn visited the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert. Bert Dankaert studied the passenger areas at Brussels airport, areas we often cross but never really see.

54 photographers from all over the world –some of them are amongst the greatest names in photography are presented alongside young emerging photographers. BredaPhoto succeeded in a few years to establish itself as one of the most important festivals in the Low Countries. The exhibitions are located all across the city – inside as well as outside – including MOTI (Museum of Image), Breda Museum, Chassépark , the Ecker Gallery, SBK Breda, Belcrum Beach, Club Solo, City Gallery. Some of them, can only  be viewed by boat, as is the case with the exhibition of photographer Oscar Monzon.
