Mois de la Photo : Bruno Hadjih, Terra Incognita

Preview

The desert is not this old western fantasy, always rekindled by the tourism industry, an archaic parenthesis in modernity’s unbridled advance: in the Sahara it is an ecological, human reality that is linked to the universal future. It is a place where new cultures and phenomena of acculturation confront each other; population flux, melting and all kinds of hybridisation.

This work points to the time when the natural elements and human adventures are reconciled, the moment where the ingenuity on which survival depends, intervenes. I chose photography to make the living desert speak. More than any other medium, it is this that has made the desert a mausoleum, a myth without any substance.
