Photo London: 5 images to buy at Christophe Guye

Preview

The Eye of Photography asked the galleries exhibiting at Photo London to each present five photographs to be purchased. Christophe Guye Gallery presents works from Stephen Gill’s new long-term series Night Procession, which he has been working on for three years and have never been shown before. The series was inspired by the many signs the artist encountered on his walks through the Swedish wilderness – a surrounding we are part of yet try to distance ourselves from.

Rinko Kawauchi’s works are also on view at Photo London and had their own world premiere at the opening of her current solo exhibition Halo recently at the gallery. With Halo Rinko Kawauchi expands her exploration of spirituality that she started in 2013 with her series and book Ametsuchi.
The gallery is also bringing Lina Scheynius’ most recent works. Her work has evolved into a complex and nuanced signifying visual language, placing sexuality and nudity less in the foreground, yet – the works are more intimate than ever.
Lieko Shiga’s works from her most important series Rasen Kaigan is exhibited as well. The series was developed when she was living in the rural village Kitakama, documenting the resident’s festivals and events.

All four artists have their own distinctive artistic identities, which are unearthed through their individual processes and visual languages.
