Mark Shaw, In the universe of high fashion

Preview

Melissa Regan, with the Mark Shaw Photographic Archive, is presenting for the first time a series of photography exhibitions in Paris dedicated to Mark Shaw’s work. Unprecedented, the first gathers images taken at Balmain, Dior, and Balegnciaga fashion shows during the 1950s.

Known worldwide thanks to his numerous collaborations with major magazines like Harper’s Bazaar, Life Magazine, and Mademoiselle, Mark Shaw (1921-1969) is the first photographer to have used color in fashion show photography. He was also known for his work on the Kennedy family. His passion was simultaneously expanded to include the cinematic world, where he received many awards in the 1960s. The exhibition assembles fifty color and black and white images, one film, and a re-creation of a salon de couture.
