AKINA BOOKS Workshop
Ways to make a photobook that doesn't fall apart

October 1, 2014 , written by manager

This is a workshop devoted to the pleasures and pains of editing and sequencing photographic material.

This workshop will be divided into two parts: A collective one and a personal one.

The result of the Collective’s creative process will be to produce a Japanese Stab binding book. Attendees will work in small groups to edit and sequence their book with a hand-on approach. The “pictures pool” to choose from will be the same for everybody: it will be formed by the images that the attendees themselves will have submitted. Different approaches to editing and sequencing will be investigated: the main focus will be the process itself, the same process used for dummy conception and creation.

During the second part of the workshop you will work on your own projects in groups of two. After the editing and sequencing you will work on your own book dummy. Basic of book binding will be provided, as well as all you need to know to create and distribute a book.

Every participant will walk out with a unique copy of the book they will have edited, sequenced and bound collectively and one from their own personal work.
