Sheetal Mallar

Photographer, India

Sheetal Mallar is an Indian photographer, born in Mumbai, on the west coast of India, art and painting was the medium of expression for my emotions.

My main interest then shifted to photography and more specifically, photographing people. I also enjoy documenting urban subcultures. Focusing on relationships people have with themselves and with others and their surrounding.

I believe we live a fragmentary existence. And it's these layers and the familiar grounds between people which I am interested in.

There is a fine line that separates us, yet holds us together. This sincerity and the banality of a picture is the challenge. I enjoy the brief yet intense connection that is made with my subject, while taking a picture.
